Obituaries – Frank Manera: An Appreciation

I regret to inform all Bixophiles that Frank Manera died unexpectedly on July 7, 2000, in Providence, Rhode Island, at age 39. Frank was a devoted Bixophile and a good friend. I met Frank three years ago at the Bix Festival in Davenport and instantly bonded with him through our common passion for Bix’s music. I spent time with Frank at the Bix Festival in 1999 and in the Tributes to Bix in 1999 and in 2000. When I conceived the idea of a website devoted to Bix, Frank was very encouraging and helped out with his vast knowledge of Bix lore. All who knew Frank were impressed by his sincerity and his commitment to anything and everything related to his idol, Bix. I will very much miss seeing Frank at Bix gatherings.
